About Me

Andrea Sparr-Jaswa received her Master of Public Health from Thomas Jefferson University. During her time in the program, she was involved in the state-funded interdisciplinary research partnership with Ethos Cannabis and developed and disseminated health communication strategies, needs assessment guidelines, and evidence-based educational training. Her research explores the public health implications of cannabis legalization, emphasizing equitable and intersectional approaches to policy, consumer safety, and positive health outcomes. Her work has been used to inform public policy, consulting on continuing medical education for practitioners as well as hemp policy and best practices for addressing unregulated hemp cannabinoid products.

Andrea began her career in Chicago where she led educational and advocacy events across multiple organizations while consulting privately with medical consumers. In Oregon, she sought out an immersive understanding of the industry, becoming the Director of Education for the country’s first science-focused dispensary. There she developed data-driven science curriculum and educational programming, curated a comprehensive scientific literature library, and cultivated relationships with researchers, healthcare organizations, and industry leaders through dedicated outreach and advocacy efforts. She continued this work as the founding Science Editor for Cannabis Business Times, Cannabis Dispensary, and Hemp grower magazines. During her time as science editor, she planned and developed a direct-to-consumer project focused on bridging the gap between retail and healthcare, authored award-winning cannabis science and policy content, and expanded key stakeholder relationships through media outreach initiatives, conference planning, and public speaking engagements.
